💡 Taco Bell's Epic Blackout Move
🗞️ 4 Noteworthy Updates from the Digital World
We all know Taco Bell as the champion of social media, with millions of followers across Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter. But instead of adding to the social media noise, Taco Bell did the unthinkable.
Back in 2014, Taco Bell wiped its entire social media presence clean!
No tweets, no posts, nothing.
Everyone was left scratching their head, and the suspense was real.
It was all in the name of a major announcement. Taco Bell was about to drop their mobile app, and they wanted to make a buzz.
Their social media profiles just had a message with the hashtag #onlyintheapp and a link to download their new app on iOS and Android.
Social media exploded with speculation and anticipation.
Within just one day of launching their new app, 75% of Taco Bell stores had already processed a mobile order. And in just two days, over 300,000 people had downloaded the app. The whole campaign generated a mind-blowing 2 billion impressions in just three days.
The Taco Bell app surpassed popular apps like Gmail, Twitter, and Google Maps, climbing from its usual spot of around 60 to a remarkable No. 22 on the iStore's most downloaded apps in the United States.
