In January 2019, Burger King’s Twitter(X) account began liking tweets from way back in 2009 and 2010.
But they didn’t just stop at any tweets.
They strategically “Liked” tweets from big names and popular influencers.
The result? A wave of curiosity and confusion. Notifications started pouring in for Twitter(X) users who suddenly found Burger King liking their old posts.
Soon, people began tweeting, “Why is Burger King liking my decade-old tweet?”
And this question went viral.
Thousands of tweets, articles, and even YouTube videos popped up, speculating why Burger King was on this nostalgic “Like” spree.
After a few days of hype, Burger King dropped the tweet: “Some things from 2010 are worth revisiting—like your old tweets. And funnel cake fries. Get them now for a limited time.”
They were relaunching their Funnel Cake Fries, a fan-favourite treat from 2010, and used this simple tactic to connect the product’s origin with the audience’s curiosity.
That's a wrap for today!
Thanks,
Luv
