Shot #169 : The PayPal Cold Outreach Hack | Marketing Shots

Hello, awesome marketers and founders.
This is Luv, and here’s your weekly Marketing Shot :)
A big thank you and welcome to the people who have recently subscribed.
Let me tell you about a cold outreach hack I discovered on Reddit.
It came from a platform called PodPitch (they help people book podcast guest appearances.)
Instead of blasting out cold emails into the void (and watching them get buried in inboxes), PodPitch tried something very clever: They sent $0.02.
Yep, actual money. Just $0.02 via PayPal but here’s the hack.
They added their pitch inside the payment note.
But here's the thing…
When I read the actual message (which you can see above), I felt a bit off.
Yes, the tactic was brilliant in terms of cutting through the noise. But the execution? It fell flat for me.
The message was too long. Way too much information squeezed into one shot.
Personally, I think they lost the magic of their hack by overloading it. Attention is earned but it still needs to be kept. And in a format like a payment note, brevity wins.
What do you think?
That's a wrap for today! Stay tuned for the next edition.
Thanks,
Luv
